OBJECTIVE
To know that God never intends us to bear all things alone
CONTENT
Fulfilling God’s calling can feel lonely because when we are called by God to do certain things, we are also set apart from the world. We are to aim to finish on a heavenly mission instead of chasing worldly goals. Having a community rooted in Christ will allow us to share and move towards a common goal and propel us further.
God’s Design of Community For Support
- The journey of faith is never meant to be a solitary journey. Believers need each other for spiritual growth, mutual accountability and emotional support. Being in a christian community increases our resilience against hardships and creates a conducive environment for us to practice our Christian values.
- Proverbs 27:17 highlights how as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. We won’t be able to bloom to our fullest potential without being immersed in a community. Having an accountable partner ensures that we get to constantly be sharpened and molded into Christlikeness.
- As hardships are an indispensable part of our lives, we also need a support system to carry us through. Just like how Ecclesiastes 4:12 mentions a chord of three strands is not easily broken, so is resilience built through mutual common ground in God.
- When we live in community, we get to depend on others to call out our blind spots and offer Godly encouragement. Isolation tends to make us prone to unwise decisions and makes us stray away from our faith.
We Are Never Alone For God is always with us
- Apart from wanting us to relate to and depend on other Christians to carry His plan, not just through others, He also promises support in the form of Himself, promising He will never forsake us and will carry His plan to completion. Matthew 28:20 encourages how God is with us in every step we take.
- Although we may feel alone at times, truthfully, we are never alone when we are rooted in Christ. Sometimes our feelings may get the best of us, but just like the story of Elijah in 2 Kings 6, when Elijah felt defeated because no one was on His side, God opened Elijah’s eyes and allowed Him to see the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Him. God’s army and heavenly forces are with us when we abide in Him. We are called to have faith despite what we see or feel.
- While God aims for us to finish His tasks, God also considers our well being. God wants us to be able to finish these tasks by relying on Him instead of striving on our own. Isaiah 41:10 enforces God’s promise of unwavering support and protection. When God gave us the task, He also gave us His grace and provision as means to complete our tasks.
- When God went away to Heaven, God also granted us with the presence of Holy Spirits. As Christians, knowing that we have the Holy Spirit inside us should aid us with the assurance, guidance, and confidence we need to follow through God’s assignments.

- Discuss a time where you felt really lonely and isolated when God has given you an assignment. What keeps you strong to carry the assignment to completion?
- Mention how being a part of FUSE or other Christian communities has made you more focused on fulfilling your God given mission?
