OBJECTIVE
To acknowledge that God’s appointment is in the here and now, rather than a future, more “prepared” version of us.
To understand that lasting impact comes from faithfully stewarding what He’s placed in our lives.
CONTENT
We don’t need a different season, platform, or level of readiness to start making an impact. God has already placed us in our present reality with purpose. It may not always seem like it, but our current season of faith is God’s chosen ground for advancing His mission. Everyday acts of faith on our part further His Word in ways we often overlook.
God’s Appointment is Already Your Reality
- God meets us in the present, not in our imagined future season. He has secured our victory on the cross and stationed us in our current reality on purpose. Rather than a detour, our seemingly ordinary lives are all part of His greater mission. He’s looking to our readiness to avail ourselves as the starting point for obedience (2 Cor. 8:12).
- As children of God, we know that our lives are inherently missional (Eph. 2:10b). But we often forget that the work of the Holy Spirit occurs right where we are, not just onward to distant places. We delay being partakers in the faith by waiting for better timing, better knowledge, and better conditions. Truth is, we won’t necessarily find those things (Ecc. 9:10). We can only find all things that pertain to true life by sharing in Christ (2 Pet. 1:3-4), right where we are.
Faithfulness in the Small Leads to Greater Impact
- Nothing is accidental in God’s kingdom. We recognize His assignments for us by growing yearnings to live beyond ourselves and to care for others. Everywhere we go, the indwelling Spirit gently leads, nudges, and aligns us with His will, showing us opportunities where our presence can shed light on His Word and prompt deeper participation in our faith (Phil. 1:6). Our part in acknowledging His call is staying responsive and creative, using whatever we already have in our hands.
- Presenting all that we have comes with sharing in Christ’s sufferings (2 Cor. 1:5). It’s easy to hear God’s call and still allow temptations turn our momentary disobedience into rebellion. Rather than delaying, we ought to adopt a posture of surrender by continually examining our lives and remaining open to avenues of reach for the Lord, not for recognition (Col. 3:23). Only then can the Lord bless it, break it, and fill the multitude with His abundance (Mark 6:41).
Willingness Multiplies What You Already Have
- Real impact rarely appears as a one-time decision. Often, it is made up of small, unseen acts of obedience. This is because God multiplies what we’re willing to offer, not what we withhold for ourselves (Mat. 25:29). Simple things such as being honest when no one’s watching, choosing duty over comforts, encouraging a weary heart, and expressing gratitude carry more eternal weight than visible results.
- We will never feel truly “ready” if we continue to wait passively. Today is the day we steward all that we got and position ourselves right at God’s disposal to serve our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! (Heb. 3:13-14)!
