OBJECTIVE
To know the sovereignty of God in our appointment.
To trust God in our calling, not our ability.
CONTENT
Omniscient (Jer 1:5)
- Jeremiah 1:5 speaks about the nature of God. His plans in our lives are not reactive because He knows and chooses us even before we exist. His appointment is rooted in eternal wisdom, not in our present.
- His sovereignty points to His omniscience. Despite knowing all our shortcomings and failures, He still has a purpose for our lives. Rest assured that He never makes mistakes. He knows how to help us fulfill that purpose.
Omnipotent (Jer 32:17)
- His omnipotence denotes that none of our mistakes is too hard for him to redeem. Therefore, in our appointment, He does not look for someone capable but someone who is available for His calling.
- It is a privilege to be appointed by Him. He is all-powerful. Yet, He wants to partner up with us to bring about His plans on earth.
- The Bible is full of characters who are ill-equipped for their tasks, but their obedience to God allows them to be used by Him. (You can choose to discuss one bible character to show how God reveals Himself as Omnipotent and Omniscient in their lives. For example: Moses, Jeremiah, Noah, Peter, Paul).
Authoritative (Matt 28:18)
- There is no greater authority over us than Christ Jesus. Whatever task the Master has assigned to each of us, there is no greater task than that. This task, laid out in the Great Commission, is the one vision we all received equally. The way to go about it may differ from one to another, depending on where God has assigned us to be.
- Fulfilling the Great Commission is part of our impact within our sphere of influence. When we operate on His agenda in our lives, the ultimate result is bringing the glory back to Him. Remember—we are appointed as partners of the Sovereign One. There is no greater honor!
CONCLUSION
The God who appoints us is the Sovereign God, all-knowing and Almighty. We can rest knowing that He is the one providing and leading us in our assignment. Therefore, let us be bold and be courageous in pursuing whatever God has assigned us. Despite our flaws or lack of skill to do what He called us to do, know that He is behind it all. In other words, we can be impactful to our surroundings when we tap into the divine power that He has provided us with.
